We made it! Yesterday we arrived in Rome and immediately took off to see the sights. With jet lag looming over us, we knew that we had to keep moving or else we would surely fall asleep.
The day started with a bus ride from the airport past Vatican city and into the heart of Rome. After being cut in front of in line by some Kenyan who was late for a train to Milan, we finally got our Eurail passes validated so we would be able to leave this morning for Siena. I told Adam that I hoped the guy missed his train - seriously though, I have never seen a guy shove through people and stand so close to people in order to cut them off...haha.
On a brighter note, we then headed from the Termini train station to the Colosseum. On the way there a lady stopped Adam to ask for directions. Next thing I know Adam is speaking in another language. I was totally confused because I was almost positive that Adam didn't speak Italian, but here we are in Italy and lo and behold a Russian is the first person we actually talk to. Adam proceeded to give her instructions and returned shocked that the lady didn't even question the fact that he knew Russian...
From the Colosseum we hit the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Novono, the Roman Forum, and the Pantheon - oh and of course a gelateria and cafe. Both extremely delicious.
We are excited for our day ahead and hopefully will be able to post again soon
